Today we looked at Google Earth as an educational tech source. It would probably be incredibly useful for other courses as well, but my first thought was that I would love to use Google Earth in a French language learning classroom to look at other French speaking regions as an intro into a culture unit.

We also talked about gamification in the classroom and how it has been shown to hugely increase intrinsic motivation. A classmate and I looked at using the gamified language learning app Duolingo in the classroom for this reason. There are so many games available online now that finding one to incorporate into the classroom should be easy–at least it should, but levelling anything to decide if it’s appropriate for a class can take time!
Duolingo for the classroom has also been developed.
I’ve had friends say for a few years now that coding is or will be more prevalent in schools, but I’m not even sure what that looks like. It would be nice to take a short course on how to incorporate coding into a class!

The website we used to vote of EdCamp topics, mural.co, seemed like an interesting resources for having students contribute ideas in one place–you can even vote on topics!
