The difference between the speckled brown and the orange clay was night and day. While the brown was firm and gritty, the orange was silky smooth and easy to shape.
Here’s my first couple attempts with the orange clay:
This was so much nicer on the hands! It was gloriously silky on my raw hands and stayed pretty wet the whole time.
However, this did mean that the form changed easily, and with my lack of experience, it was hard to keep the rim from flaring out–in the second attempt I had to bring the clay back in a dozen times before I got the shape.
All in all, I liked the clay! I’m thinking I’ll try a new shape using the orange clay after researching a bit more.
